Blemishes

I tend to be very wary around people who at first glance appear to be perfect. Humans are by their very nature imperfect, so when I run into someone who — sometimes compulsively — tries to project that facade of flawlessness, the alarm bells go off in my head.

Blemishes — physical or behavioral — reassure me. Perfection, however, is creepy.

It’s something we should strive for, but not something anyone should achieve.

  1. The kind of perfection you referred to reminds me of mannequins. Real people are not perfect.

  2. I disagree, mon ami. Sometimes its just a person’s inadequacies been projected through that…facade, as you so aptly put it. It doesn’t inspire caution in me, merely pity.

But don’t you get scared of what could happen when the cracks begin to show until they explode?

      • Scared? The ‘perfect face’ types are usually some of the most pathetically inadequate people around; what’s to be scared of?

Granted that’s true for most. Either I’m overly paranoid, but people with an agenda also fit this.

Of course I also want to avoid all the baggage that comes with associating with those that fit your example.

It all depends on what you define as “perfection”

I couldn’t leave a comment on the old adipose tissue post. funny how you never called it by name? And some of the comments were hilarious.

I agree with you here, I tend to be wary of perfection in real life.

Thanks. I really should have left the comments open on that one (you’d probably have written more). I was getting too much spam so I closed comments on older posts.
