“Lao Tzu said: ‘You, must find the way!’ I’ve found it. You must find it too… So I’m going to cut off your head. Then you’ll know the truth!” These are the words of Didi, the son of Wang Chen-yee, Tintin’s greatest helper [apart from Snowy] in The Blue Lotus.
I first read most of The Blue Lotus when I was in secondary school, and I was intrigued. I never got to lay my hands on any Tintin book again. Today, someone obviously visited my Amazon wishlist and sent me the The Adventures of Tintin, Volume 1.
Like before, I was enthralled and completely loved the book. Georges Remi aka Hergé is simply fabulous. Mitsuhiro, perhaps has the funniest exclamations — “Flaming Fujiyama!’ and ‘Seventy suffering samurais!’ are his very best.
Hergé also seems to be able to poke fun at every one — for example, the ‘Chinese’ name Chang Chong-chen. Kudos to him.
By the way, thanks to the unnamed person who sent me the gift.
